DSRT Sky Room — the name stands for ‘D’ Shining Roof Top’ — holds the title of the highest hotel bar in George Town, set on level 31 of The Wembley, A St Giles Hotel. A cosy indoor lounge opens onto an outdoor terrace, both wrapped in panoramic views over Penang Island.

The menu leans classic and unpretentious: fine wines, whiskeys and champagnes paired with pizza and bar snacks, rather than an elaborate cocktail programme. It's the kind of place suited to a long, relaxed evening rather than a quick photo stop, with the sunset views doing most of the talking.

The bar keeps evening-only hours and is closed on Sundays, so it's worth checking ahead if a Sunday visit is part of the plan.
